After several rumors circulated, Xiaomi finally released the Mi Mix Fold. This is their first foldable phone. With a Snapdragon 888 processor, the Mi Mix Fold is the first foldable phone to be powered by the flagship processor from Qualcomm. In addition, this device is also claimed to be the first to use a liquid lens camera as well as the first Xiaomi cellphone to use a self-made image processor.

The Mi Mix Fold is designed in a fold-in style like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Huawei Mate X2. The body is covered with Gorilla Glass 5, but there is also a special ceramic edition with a different texture. This special edition also has a gold center frame and volume buttons and a special laser engraving on the back.

Reporting from Gizmochina (31/3), when opened the inner screen has an aspect ratio of 4: 3. While the external screen has an aspect ratio of 27: 9. This outer screen also has a punch hole in the upper left corner of the screen as a place for the front camera.

The main screen of the Mi Mix Fold has a WQHD + OLED panel that measures 8.01 inches when opened. This device is also informed as the first foldable cellphone with Dolby Vision support. There is no hole or notch on the main screen, nor is there a high refresh rate like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Huawei Mate X2.

On the other hand, the outer screen has a 6.52-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2520 x 840 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. There is also a Super Resolution feature which is said to be able to increase image resolution from 720p to 1440p and video resolution from 480p to 1440p.

The Snapdragon 888 processor inside is combined with up to 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage. No support for storage expansion. The cooling system uses VC fluid, thermal gel, and several layers of graphite sheets to release heat.

The speakers used are stereo systems from Harman Kardon. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated with the power button. The battery capacity is 5020 mAh with fast charging 67W. Xiaomi says that users can charge the phone from empty to full in just 37 minutes. Unfortunately the Mi Mix Fold cannot be recharged wirelessly.

The Mi Mix Fold has 3 rear cameras. The main camera has a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor. The second camera has an 8 MP sensor with a liquid lens which allows it to double as a telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x telephoto zoom, as well as a macro camera with a 3 cm focus. The third camera is a 13 MP resolution ultra wide angle lens. For the front camera, the sensor it uses is 20 MP.
